Announcements

October 2019 marks the 20th anniversary of the Alabama Virtual Library. Since the launch of AVL's first database in 1999, AVL has provided an equitable core of information sources for every student and citizen in Alabama, raising the level of excellence in schools and communities across the state.

The September 20th AVL Council meeting will be held at the University of Montevallo: Stewart Retreat Center, 76 College Drive, Montevallo, AL. The Council meeting is scheduled to start at 8:30AM.

During the summer Gale made enhancements to some of their databases. Gale took this opportunity to re-branded of some of their databases and to retire General Reference Center Gold. The majority of the content that was available in General Reference Center Gold is available though General OneFile.

The Alabama Virtual Library received an increase in funding from state legislators for FY 2020. Thank you to all who advocated for the Alabama Virtual Library! If you enjoy the benefits that AVL brings to your school, college, or community, please take a moment to thank your local legislators for providing this valuable resource for the State of Alabama.
