General Information

The Alabama Virtual Library and the AVL database partners created the AVL Back to School Quiz to help you introduce your library users to the wealth of information on the AVL.  Thanks to the generosity of the AVL database partners and the technical expertise of the Alabama Supercomputer Authority, your library can win great prizes when your students use AVL databases to answer a few fun questions. Make this quiz part of your orientation plans –and possibly win one of the fabulous prizes.

Here's How Your Library Can Win!

Beginning Tuesday, September 8, and continuing through Monday, September 21, library users can take the AVL Back to School Quiz and nominate their library or school for one of the great prizes. Users who open the quiz will be asked to identify their SCHOOL or PUBLIC.LIBRARY.  This nominates the school or library for one of the great prizes! THEN, users will be asked to answer a few simple questions using the AVL databases.  These are easy questions requiring only a simple keyword search (bold words in the question) in the suggested database.  Please do not give your users the answers -- the real purpose of this activity is to encourage USERS to EXPLORE the wonderful AVL databases available to them.

Prizes

A prize (description of prizes) will be awarded to at least one library or school in each of the five quiz categories. Winners will be randomly selected from entries in each category when the AVL Back to School Quiz ends.

PLEASE NOTE: The AVL Back to School Quiz is NOT available via remote access because one of its purposes is to encourage users to visit the library –so YOU can teach them about the AVL and demonstrate how to use it.
